Don’t Repeat the Mistake of December 2021: Putin’s Ukraine-Russia Peace Plan is Our Best Option

June 24, 2024—On June 14, Russian President Vladimir Putin delivered a remarkable address to the senior staff of the Russian Foreign Ministry which included a roadmap for ending the devastating Ukraine war.  It should be noted that the Russian President had not held such a meeting since November 2021, after which he issued an urgent treaty proposal to the United States and NATO requesting certain guarantees, including the non-admission of Ukraine to NATO, and assurance that nuclear weapons would not be placed on Ukrainian territory. Putin also stressed that ethnic cleansing of the Russian-speaking population of the Donbass region would not be allowed. President Biden, then-UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, and the NATO command chose to ignore Putin’s legitimate concerns and treaty proposals.

Instead, they allowed, or more likely, encouraged, the neo-Nazi-infested Armed Forces of Ukraine to begin to prepare for an offensive against the people of the Donbass areas that had declared autonomy in 2014, massing tens of thousands of troops along the “line of contact” between Kiev-controlled territory and the breakaway Donbass republics.  This is why President Biden was able to say with such assurance that “Putin is preparing to invade Ukraine” (as he also assured us that the Nord Stream II Russia-German underwater gas pipeline would “end”). President Putin had already informed the West that ethnic cleansing would not be tolerated, so President Biden, Boris Johnson, and others knew that Russia would act to pre-empt the planned Ukrainian military offensive in order to prevent mass murder.  On February 24, 2022, President Putin announced the launch of Russia’s Special Military Operation.  This was not a surprise, but was the armed conflict with Russia that western leaders intended to provoke.

By the end of March 2022, Russian and Ukrainian diplomats meeting in Belarus and then Türkiye had come to a diplomatic resolution to the crisis, but before Presidents Putin and Zelensky could finalize it, PM Boris Johnson raced to Kiev to urge Zelensky not to sign, and to offer assurances that weapons and money would flow into Ukraine to support the ultimate “defeat” of Russia.

It is still not clear to me whether politicians like Boris Johnson, Joe Biden, Emmanuel Macron, Sen. Lindsey Graham and others are so out of touch with reality that they actually believe that Ukraine could possibly defeat Russia militarily, or if they are just saying that for the purpose of generating billions of dollars in defense contracts, while attempting to disrupt the remarkable progress of the BRICS nations in establishing a new order of international relations. Whatever the thinking behind the nonsensical theory that Ukraine could possibly defeat Russia, what is obvious to even any half-witted person, is that Ukraine has lost. Ukraine has lost hundreds of thousands of young men, the potential breadwinners of families which will now never exist, and Ukraine’s economy is in a shambles due to the damage of the war, and the lack of a workforce.

I include this background, because it must be understood that the western so-called “leaders” are really in no position to object to President Putin’s proposal, which is quite reasonable, given all that has occurred, not merely in the last two years, but since the U.S./U.K.-orchestrated Ukrainian coup in 2014.  In other words, Joe Biden, Rishi Sunak, Emmanuel Macron, Olaf Scholz and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg among them do not have one  proverbial “leg to stand on,” and it is my duty to inform them of that fact, and to advise them to accept President Putin's proposal as a starting point for negotiations to end the conflict.

Thermonuclear Annihilation or Peace

Unfortunately, these western leaders, or perhaps their advisors, seem to be too arrogant and delusional to recognize the truth of what I have stated above, and are about to make a mistake that will cost much more than a few hundred thousand Ukrainian lives. Rather than give serious consideration to president Putin’s terms for beginning peace negotiations, they have chosen to double down on a perilous course of military provocation.

After French President Emmanuel Macron alarmed top French military brass by suggesting that French troops be deployed to Ukraine, President Biden gave Ukraine the green light to use American missiles to strike targets in areas that are indisputably parts of Russia.  With these irresponsible statements hanging in the air, Russia’s Armavir early warning radar facility was struck, and just this week five American-made ATACMs missiles, armed with cluster bombs were sent flying from Ukraine into Sevastopol, of which four were shot down, and the damaged fifth one veered off course and exploded over a beach, killing four people, including two children, and injuring 150 others. At the same time, in what appears to have possibly been a coordinated attack, churches and a synagogue in Dagestan were attacked, resulting in 20 more deaths.

Following the Sevastopol attacks, the Russian Foreign Ministry summoned U.S. Ambassador Lynne Tracy, to tell her that Washington’s supplying ATACMS to the AFU “made the USA a party to the conflict”, and that because “the targeting and flight data entry is performed by U.S. military crews, therefore the USA shares equal responsibility with the Kiev regime for this outrage”. Russian Ambassador to the UN Vassily Nebenzia stated, “The fact that the U.S. is involved in this crime is beyond any doubt.”

Ask yourself, if the President of Russia were traveling around Canada calling for the destruction of the United States, as Canadian drones were hitting American military facilities, and killing vacationers on the beach, what do you think our response would be?

It should be obvious from the actions taken by Russia since February 24, 2022, that Russia isn’t bluffing. They have all but won the war in Ukraine, and despite escalating provocations from the West, are unlikely to react in such a way as to squander that imminent victory, although they can be expected to take action in response to the recent attacks. However, we are rapidly approaching a point of no return, where Russia may be compelled to act with devastating force, where miscalculation can end the planet.

Russia has already won the Ukraine war. If we accept the terms which President Putin proposed in his June 4 address, the bloodletting will stop, and a neutral Ukraine will still exist, although a bit smaller than it would have been had the earlier negotiations not been sabotaged by the U.K. and U.S. As Putin stressed in his June 14 speech, his proposal for ending the conflict with Ukraine is embedded in the context of a broad new European security arrangement which reflects the reality of the changing world order in which the Anglo-American axis is no longer the unilateral arbiter of world affairs. If the West ignores President Putin at this juncture, and continues to launch attacks inside of Russia, we will get a result from which there is no return.

As an independent candidate for U.S. Senate, I welcome President Putin’s June 14th initiative and call on all American patriots to join me in demanding that our representatives, including the President of the United States, stop gambling with our lives and the lives of everyone on the planet and accept Putin’s proposal as a starting point for negotiations.
